On September 20, 2017, CHCF’s Young Professionals Board (YPB) held its first kickoff/networking event. The event and board are led by three vibrant professionals: Michelle Avila, YPB President, Sofia Estay, YPB Secretary, & Daniel Rodriguez, YPB Treasurer. This leadership team has done an amazing job spreading the word about CHCF and bringing awareness to the programs and services offered through the organization for the community.

The Young Professionals Board (YPB) was created to strategically champion the mission of The Committee for Hispanic Children and Families, Inc. (CHCF) in the following ways: by sharing programmatic resources, helping the organization achieve financial sustainability, and helping CHCF execute conversations and introductions that heighten the visibility of the organization.

The event was well received, drawing more than 20 potential new candidates to meet and greet the current YPB members, representatives from CHCF’s Board of Directors, and CHCF staff members. We had the pleasure of having Gustavo Mazza, Chair of CHCF’s Board of Directors, and Carmen Rojas, Development Chair for CHCF’s Board of Directors in attendance, networking with the young professionals. CHCF President and CEO, Ramon A. Peguero, Esq. and the 2017 Abriendo Puertas para Mujeres honoree, Bonnie Pfleiderer were also among the few attendees guests were able to meet and greet.

The YPB is still open to members who are dedicated to CHCF’s mission and vision, and who are up for the challenge! Please contact Ms. Melvilin Rodriguez, Assistant Director of Development at mrodriguez@chcfinc.org or 212-206-1090 ext 353 for more information on how to become a member, upcoming YPB events, and more.
