Child Welfare

CHCF believes a true committment to Child Welfare involves overall child well-being. All CHCF program areas and policy initiatives are founded in the belief that by supporting children and families in critical areas of need, such as health, education, and child care, we can prevent child abuse and neglect, and keep families healty and intact.

National Council of La Raza (NCLR)

Elba Montalvo, Executive Director of CHCF, serves on the Board of NCLR. At NCLR's 2005 national conference in Philadelphia, Ms. Montalvo moderated a town hall discussion on early childhood education because CHCF has built a reputation of promoting and providing high quality early childhood education through bilingual professional training of family day care providers.

CHCF, through a collaboration of NCLR, Scholastic, and Verizon, was chosen as a national partner in the Lee y seras initiative, a bilingual early education curriculum that CHCF launched in the northeast region with family day care providers.
